It’s All about Choices

Loretta and her Care Manager, Eliza Chace

Because of your donations Loretta can remain in her home where she wants to be. (Loretta and her Care Manager, Eliza Chace)

Old Colony Elder Services (OCES) offers a comprehensive array of specialized programs that have been developed to address the unique situations and circumstances faced by elders and individuals with disabilities.

Like you, we believe that everyone should decide where they live. OCES provides the choices, options and alternatives to assist elders and individuals with disabilities, like Loretta, to remain living in their homes.

The Gala of Giving
We would like to thank the Visiting Angels of the South Shore, a private home care agency, and the Plymouth Philharmonic Orchestra for raising funds during their recent “Gala of Giving/Dancing with the Angels” benefit event to help us assist elders in need. The fundraiser supported the Plymouth Philharmonic Orchestra as well as the Emergency Funds of Old Colony Elder Services (OCES) and South Shore Elder Services (SSES). These funds help frail elders and individuals with disabilities in crisis situations. This year, OCES received $7,500 to help seniors in need throughout the greater Brockton and Plymouth county areas.

Thanks to the following individuals for participating in Mayors For Meals: Selectman John Anivino and COA Director Karen Hall of Stoughton; Mayor Linda Balzotti of Brockton; Police Chief John Cowan, Sergeant Steve Brown, Officer Tallitha Connor and COA Director Nancy Hill of East Bridgewater; and Selectman Matt Muratore and COA Director Constance DiLego of Plymouth.

After delivering, John Anivino wrote, “Thank you for providing me the opportunity to participate in OCES’ Nutrition Program Mayors For Meals Day. The Meals On Wheels Program is so much more than just delivering a meal. Today, I experienced firsthand the social interaction each visit provided the residents as well as the delivery person. The program certainly provides another means of verifying the well-being of the residents and making them aware of other social activities provided at the Senior Center.”

Dance team

We are proud to announce that OCES’ “Razzle Dazzle Dames” dance team took home the winning trophy. Congratulations to Janice Fitzgerald, Krista-Jean Forand and Nancy Hill!
